Sci-fi Sacrifice

"Attack!!!" my dad yelled at the top of his lungs.

I duck down and shoot lasers with a heavy hybrid nerf gun. Quickly, I whizz to my right like a Ninja on my electric blue magnetic sneakers. There we were on top of the wing of an aeroplane trying to save the world from an alien invasion. Too bad, an AI revolution couldn't stop the aliens from abducting humans and destroying the planet Earth. We were the ''Super Seventeen''. My family and friends swore into a mission to rescue our pale blue dot, while the others escaped in airships and capsules to Titan and Enceladus.

They can spot us from every single vantage point. Escaping their x-ray vision and advanced tech was beyond our capacity. All we had with us was our intuition, amateur martial art skills and a beacon of hope to restore peace. Wait, we had something else too. A mega medallion. It was an ancient medallion that had an ornate design with crimson sparks and a cyan effervescence.

The UFO's were whooshing past us and the laser beams were scathing our skin. The pressurised bio suits shielded us against the radiation that turned our skin into sandpaper. We need to find the medallion. All of us jumped into the swampland and searched for it in the dirt filled marshes.

Zac called out "Zora!" I turned around and I saw his olive skin scarred red. His pupils dilated and had a little twinkle in them. I could get lost in his ice blue eyes. He tucked my hair behind my ears and whispered "We can do this, hand it over to me right after you find it. We will figure this out honey."

I heard something vibrating inside the bark of the tree and peeled it open. The magnificent shine of the medallion blinded my eyes. A tiny scroll slipped and fell on the ground. After I finished reading it, my whole body was shivering with excitement. This is it. I could end this. However, there's a catch, a big one. I had to die. Or anyone who presses the button on the medallion. A pitch black smoke will engulf the sky and will jam all the extraterrestrial signals and communication. The UFO's will drop to the ground like dead birds and never bother us again. All the abducted ships will be self-destructed.

I can't give this to Zac, he will never allow me to do it. He will do it. I can't handle the pain of losing him forever. Why is the happening to us? There will be no meaning to our promise rings and forever afters. And if one anyone in the 'super seventeen' gets to know, my dad will take the charge because it's his responsibility.

I could never forgive myself if something goes wrong with my family and friends. Everyone knew my vulnerability and openness, but they misjudged it for a lack of confidence. It is because I value empathy more than arrogance? Should I fear death? No, I never did. It is inevitable. Does it matter if we succeed or fail in life? All that really counts is finishing our mission and resting in peace for eternity. Unless, we turn immortal. What will I miss? Will it matter? I will miss being human. Life matters. I want an answer to the question of my existence. Purpose or destiny or fate or whatever that is. I found an escape, an early one. Finally a way to get rid of the suffering and being a slave to the societal norms. In a super slow motion, I press the button and let my life flash before my eyes. This is a sci-fi sacrifice.
